REVIEW : COSRX BHA BLACKHEAD POWER LIQUID
Exfoliation is one of the most important steps in skin care routine that you have to do. You have to remove the dead skin regularly or you might have scary skin problems such as acne, dull skin, and your make up would not stay longer. Exfoliation comes with 2 different ways. The first one is physical exfoliation. In physical exfoliation, you need to scrub your face using tools or any product contains scrubs. But physical exfoliation can damage your skin because you have to rub your face and produce fine line on your skin.
On the other hand, you have a choice to exfoliate your skin with chemical exfoliation. Chemical exfoliation can reduce the damage of physical exfoliation. It is safer than the physical ones because the product will penetrate to your skin and stimulate your skin to produce new skin cells. COSRX BHA BLACKHEAD POWER LIQUID
YHAAAA COSRX BHA BLACKHEAD POWER LIQUID is one of the most famous drugstore exfoliator liquid. With quite cheap price and also easy to get, this product is must have item for skincare freaks.
Packaging : This product comes with a very simple plastic bottle with a pump on it. With clear bottle and just a little bit explanation about the product make the product could be seen easily. It says that the nett product is 100 ml. I use it 2 pumps in every single night since July 2017 until now I am writing this thread which is January 2018 and I still have about 20 ml left. Sometimes I use it in the morning also especially on weekend.
Behind the bottle, they write something that I could not understand since it was written in hangul. But I notice that they mentioned about the amount of product and the producer which is COSRX with their website address.
Claims : The box says that BHA Blackhead Power Liquid helps to remove blackheads and to control excess sebum while moisturizing the skin.
Suited for : BHA is suited for oily skin and clogged pores. BHA could penetrate into pores deeper than AHA could do and help to release the excess sebum.
When and where to use : After cleansing and using toner (optional), soak a cotton pad and swipe a thin layer of the Liquid over the skin, avoiding the eye area. begin with using the product once a week, and after the skin has adapted to it, increase the usage up to 2 to 3 times a week. For use during the daytime, follow a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater. That is just a usage suggestion.
In real life, I never use cotton pad and only using my clean palms. Moreover, I use it everyday in my morning and night skin care routine (twice a day) and nothing wrong with my skin hahahaha
Ingredients : Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Water, Butylene Glycol, Betaine Salicylate, Niacinamide, 1-2-Hexanediol, Arginine, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan gum, and Ethyl Hexanediol.
Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Water comes as the astringent (soothing) and anti-inflammatory. Another anti-inflammatory agent in this product is Betaine Salicylate. Not only has one property, Betaine Salicylate also works as keratolytic, comedolytic and bacteriostatic.
In addition, BHA Blackhead Power Liquid also contains Niacinamide for brightening skin tone, treating hyperpigmentation, hydrating the skin, anti-aging and increasing collage production. Along with other ingredients, Sodium Hyaluronate or Hyaluronic acid is contained to moisturize your skin because it is very humectant and is capable of holding 1000x water weight.
If you want to look closer, you might see Arginine and Panthenol on the list above. Let me tell you that Arginine is an amino acid with antioxidant properties and Panthenol is a vitamin that is part of the B complex. It could improve barrier function, hydrates the skin, promotes keratinocyte differentiation and may help treat burn wounds. And the rest of ingredients works as solvent and viscosity control.
As usual, COSRX comes with a short list of ingredients yet veeerrryyy promising.
Performance: This product is thicker than water but not as thick as essence. It is very smooth to be applied and quickly absorbed. In my case, it only takes less than 5 minutes to be absorbed especially when you use toner beforehand.
People would say that if you use exfoliator, your skin might become dry but this product. I feel more moisturized and my skin will be smoother after using it. Moreover, I am really happy with the result, I had 3 super huge and dark acne scars in my face. I can see the scars were faded within only a month. I was quite shock considering the size of them. I can't show you the before-after photos because I took the photos without using my hijab. Stupid me.
The product works better with the other skin care products that I use such as COSRX AHA7 Whitehead Power Liquid, Benton Snail Essence, Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel and I listed the rest products on my previous post.

Actually, COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid contains 4% of Betaine Salicylate with pH 6.5 means the pH is higher than usual in other BHA products. People might think that the product won't work effectively than others because usually other products will use 2% of Salicylic Acid in pH 3.2. Furthermore, a study said that 4% of Betaine Salicylate is equal as 2% Salicylic Acid (it can be found in Paula's Choice and The Ordinary) within only 2 days and significantly increased the exfoliation by 10.9% compared with placebo. I found that this is also an advantage for COSRX because 2% of Salicylic Acid might make your skin drier.
